Trey is eating an apple, Pat is working on rocking out in 11/8, and Adrian is upstairs suffering Song Frenzy.
My own Pencil Frenzy this morning was directed towards "Larks' IV" with, I am happy to report, success. The key to this was a change in tempo, which enables the blocks to become both faster and slower. Remorseless, inevitability, the impact of necessity & the spirit's wish to return home are now more clearly delineated for anyone who likes to rock out in 11/8.
19.32 At 16.00ish Adrian appeared from his song frenzy above the studio. He had been writing to a backdrop of savage "Larks' IV" 11/8 terror and emerged, not surprisingly, having written a song to the same tempo & feel. Current working title "Adrian's Jaw-Breaking Coda Of Terror, Pain, Suffering And Wonderment". Then, assembling today's work for Trey's working DAT and off to a Mexican establishment. Not Loco Lupe's, but a restaurant boasting a Monster Margarita. To the degree that listening to another English group of the same period as early KC is a worthwhile experience, if only to return you to the word of truth, commitment & honour, so next time my patronage will be directed towards Loco Lupe.
This entry to the Cow Farm is supported by Don Maclean's Greatest Hits, currently "Vincent". I have enjoyed this exceptional contribution to pop culture since 1973, for reasons musical and personal. A close friend (and former band member) of my late teens / early twenties introduced this song to me. Now, he is an alcoholic and a deeply missed part of my life. The proportion of close friends, band members & professional persons that I have lost to the Black Dog of substance abuse is far, far higher than I care to acknowledge. I doubt that many professions / career choices guarantee the level of personal & professional loss which rock music provides.
19.59 Sister has just telephoned from Orange County airport, returning home from a successful speech. And Pat & Bill are returned for The Late Shift.
